About Crystal Leavitt
Crystal was born in Seattle, Washington in the late 80’s. She started making art at a young age and soon discovered she was able to realistically draw or paint anything she saw. In her late teens she moved to Colorado, then Arizona where she learned to appreciate her natural surroundings and started developing techniques which involved emulating the shapes and patterns she saw all around her. In her mid twenties she moved back to Seattle and dabbled in a few careers. Through this process she learned that as an artist first was the only way for her to truly be content.
In the summer of 2024 Crystal took time off from teaching and started making art full time. Since then she has been creating wildly original and inspired art at a very prolific rate. She currently is developing art that originates from a subconscious place that melds the patterns she sees everyday with abstract and surreal imagery. She oscillates between beauty, whimsical, absurd, and disturbing from work to work. The subject of her art reveals itself through exploration of processes of improvisation, realization, and development of emerging imagery.
